Coaching for an individual’s unique physiology and psychology requires sensitivity that doesn’t come in a training manual. At Apeiron Triathlon we know that the best results come from having a great athlete-to-coach relationship where the coach takes on the style that best complements an individual’s character. One size fits all? Far from it. We believe in ‘training the individual body, coaching the individual mind.’ We relate to the athlete in such a way that allows them to bring out their inner best selves. Mindfulness, empathy, and taking into account the life-pie that incorporates all aspects of life (career, family, commitments, and sport) are essential for a coach to help the athlete maximize their potential.
Our coaching system provides unique optimization in a no-bullshit format that does not complicate life, but brings clarity to managing different training blocks. Our methodology is inspired by the reverse periodization principles and theory of Brett Sutton. We don’t tag along to every mainstream idea that has been spewed out and twisted around in different directions for the sake of perpetual article writing. Triathlon is not 1+2+3, but rather 123 in itself– a wholly differentiated entity from its individual parts. We don’t try to swim like pro swimmers or spin like pro cyclists. The goal is to swim and bike in order to put in a strong run, not walk. We coach the individual based on their own unique physiology and psychology, further supported by a solid foundation of functional strength, mechanics, and mobility. We follow inverted periodization as a training build into race specificity for personal best execution. Yes, we do the very opposite of what most people might tell you.
We view a mind-body-spirit approach to coaching when providing adjustments and feedback for our athletes. Life balance equals consistency. It’s not just about the training spreadsheet. It’s about managing work stress, family life, and other lifestyle commitments– we want to help people become lifestyle athletes using triathlon as a complimentary avenue towards wholesome self-satisfaction. We strive to foster independent athletes no longer in need of our services, who are fully empowered to put together the puzzle pieces of their training and reach high performance.
